It's big tech earnings week.

And Fed week.

Investors are also dealing with what seems like the daily on again/off again "peace talks" between the United States and Iran.

When they're on...oil goes down, stocks go up.

When they're off...oil goes up, stocks go down.

There's no lack of stories in the market. But during a week like this, many investors will make the mistake of trying to decode the meaning behind:

- A CapEx number
- A phrase in the Fed's statement
- A social media post about the Strait of Hormuz

Because you want to feel in control. You want to feel like you're *doing* something.

But I'll offer an alternative. The ONE thing most investors need to do this week...

...is nothing.

Zero. Zip. Nada.

Through the first half of the year, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq have been grinding higher. But for the most part, they've been trading in a predictable range.

So like the weather here in Michigan, where I live. If stocks turn the way you don't want them to go, just wait a bit; it will likely change.

Now, if you have your rules in place (you do have rules, don't you?), then you may want to nibble at stocks that create an opportunity to accumulate. You might even have an opportunity to take some profits.

But for most investors, the best thing to do during a week when many people will urge you to **do something right now** is to sit back and patiently wait.

Markets reward discipline, not panic.
